Normally I limit my responses to helping customers, but my friend needs help here.

Sybase XI is the undisputed king of performance from the Alpha to the PC! Oracle may do a damn good job in marketing, but we have better products.

Lately I have not seen any performance measurements in Oracle that even come close to the performance of System XI on the same hardware. System XI on SCO posted the highest PC numbers. Heck Sybase System XI NT even out performed SQL SERVER 6.5 on NT -- On their own OS!

Check out the published results: http://www.sybase.com/products/tpc

Here is a sample:

Database TPM-C $/TPM-C Hardware

Sybase: 14176.25	198	Alpha Server 8400 5/350
Informix:	13646.17	277	Alpha Server 8400 5/350
Oracle: 11456.13	286	Alpha Server 8400 5/350 (Not even close)
Microsoft:	Nothing close in front, mid, or back office :-)

Comparisons on identical hardware.

Stay informed.
