Why do you consider this "lousy" performance? How complicated are the forms? What's in your templates? How loaded is your server? What is your server configuration? Whose/what performance are you comparing it to?

5 minutes probably isn't unreasonable; ask yourself how long it would take you to do it by hand!!! <grin>
