Our client is a developer of retail business application (data warehousing) software in Alameda, CA (East Bay, 20 minutes from San Francisco). The Data Base Administrator is responsible for all aspects of data base, data dictionary, and object repository support for all software products.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform logical and physical data base design. Develop and document logical and physical data models.
2. Set up, maintain, load, re-organize and tune relational data bases. 3. Validate and administer all the SQL calls to the data bases. Work with Systems Engineers to develop SQL based I/O modules. 4. Develop and monitor date base standards including naming, abbreviation and other related standards.

5.  Maintain the data dictionary.
6.  Define corporate business object classes and coordinate sharing and re-use.
7.  Consult with, train, and advise clients, prospects and employees as needed on 

technical aspects of data base issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Proficient in design and management of at least one major relational data base system including DB2, Oracle, Sybase, and Informix.

2.  Experience with SQL programming.
3.  Familiarity with data modeling concepts is highly desirable.
4.  Experience with data dictionaries/repositories is highly desirable.
5.  Experience with data base performance tuning is highly desirable.
6.  Knowledge of one or more major retail systems areas is a plus, such as 

merchandising, store operations, warehouse/distribution center operations, and financial systems.
7. Familiarity with object oriented design and re-use principles is a plus.
