Setting MAXDATA

Hi Oracle gurus

I need to increase the value of MAXDATA in one of our databases. If I simply use set MAXDATA 35000 it will increase the parameter but only for the current session. I checked the initialization *.ora file but could not find where the value gets set. How could I change it permanently?
