Pro*C question

I have been able to successfully compile a C program using the Pro*C precompiler. When I run the program, I get an access error on the libclntsh.so library (client shared library).

Environment is Solaris 2.5, using Sql*Net 2.0 to talk to an Oracle 7.2.3 server running on another machine. Access to the shared library is read/write but not execute.
