Missed the first post, but after working with both Unix and NT, it is apparent that NT requires rebooting for what I consider minor changes (especially tcp/ip networking changes). On unix, it is possible to re-configure the entire networking (ip, dns, add virtual ip's, etc.) without rebooting. Software installs such as Oracle, do not require rebooting (as they do on NT), etc.
So while there are rebooting requirements for Unix, they do not seem to be encountered as often.
