How determine system checkpoint frequency?

From querying the "DBWR checkpoints" stat I find this counter goes up, on average, about 9 per minute. I have the log_checkpoint_interval set larger than the size (in OS blks) of our redo logs which means Oracle should only be taking checkpoints at redo log switch time. The "background checkpoints completed" stat seems to be in sync with the log switches (which occur about 4 times per day).

How can one tell how many checkpoints Oracle is taking? If the answer is 'DBWR checkpoints' why is Oracle taking 9 per minute? Thanks, Carl Castrianni Frito-Lay, Inc. Received on Fri Aug 16 1996 - 00:00:00 CEST
