Can't seem to import an Oracle 6 export into Personal Oracle 7 on a Mac.

As the owner of a table logged in on the "Import" utility, I'm trying to import a small table (or any table actually) of 1 row. The appropriate name of the table is recognized in the list box of table(s) to import from the export file. And I get the following messages when I import:

I've been working days on this and Oracle support is still investigating the problem for me. Can anyone give me any leads to what to try next here?
Scenario
As the owner of a table logged in on the "Import" utility, I'm trying to import a small table (or any table actually) of 1 row. The appropriate name of the table is recognized in the list box of table(s) to import from the export file. And I get the following messages when I import:
IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
Trying this as the system user also produced the same result.
I'd be much oblidged to any given assistance.
