I've seen the R*SQLab tool, but haven't worked with it. It's advantage, according to the Quest rep, is that it isolates which SQL statement to optimize. My impression, again from the Quest rep, is that when it comes to optimization the two products are similiar.

The rep would NOT tell me the price, even though I asked twice. He replied that it starts at "a few thousand" and can cost "up to 20 thousand" depending on the number of instances and seats. I believe the Platinum product costs around $1500.
