We also run arcserv v6 and it is worthless. We end up downing the server and bringing it back up with out any of the oracle nlms loaded and we still get mis compares on the files. Cheyenne can not figure this out. They first told us that because the Oracle software was still loaded it was holding onto some of the files but this turned out not to be true. They tell us that we should be doing hot backups but when you want to back up a 20 gig database it is kind of hard to get that much standalone time because in order to do a hot backup he has to take a backup all the logs from the start of the backup until the end of the backup. The cold backup currently takes 8 hours and three 8mm tapes on the weekend. Also what good will a hot backup do for you when you are upgrading your database to a newer version.

Anyone from Cheyenne want to comment on this? e-mail: mmckin9938_at_aol.com or mark.mckinnon_at_haworth.infonet.com Received on Fri Aug 09 1996 - 00:00:00 CEST
