The problem is (drum roll please): Motif 1.2.5 libraries on HP-UX 10.10

$ what /usr/lib/Motif1.2/libXm.sl
/usr/lib/Motif1.2/libXm.sl:

        OSF/Motif Version 1.2.5
        X Window System, Version 11 R5+ HP-UX B.10.01.00 May 1996 Release
        (build date: Wed Apr  3 07:05:29 PST 1996)

I called Oracle support about this and their answer was: the Oracle Toolkit II (TK2) motif libraries have NOT been certified for use with Motif 1.2.5. You must use Motif 1.2.4 if you want to use Oracle's Motif GUI products. This includes:

	orainst /m
        svrmgrm
        oradocm

Since HP-UX comes with Motif 1.2.5 installed, I have given up on using any Oracle Motif products for now.

BTW, svrmgrl should work, check your TERM setting.
