Just recreate the control file using the set db_name option.
This renames the database. Do not forget that the db_name parameter in the init.ora file should be set to reflect this new name.
The SID -(which is independent of the database name) can be changed by simply setting it up in the /etc/oratab and starting up the database. Note - if you do not specify pfile on startup - it -- the startup routine -- will default to init$ORACLE_SID.ora for the name of the initialization file
