Datatype LONG in Forms 4.5

We are running these products:

Oracle 7 Server Release 7.2.2.3.0
Production Release
With the distributed replication and paraller query options

Oracle Forms 4.5 (Designer) Version 4.5.6.3.3 (Production)

I have a database item LONG in a form. Our users would like to paste document in it. It works except that we seem to be limited to about 2000 characters.

I tried to put 20000 for maximum length for this item. The form generated properly, but still I am not able to input more than about 2000 characters. When I try to paste longer, I get the message:

FRM-40220 Cannot paste from the clipboard; value too long.

In the documentation, I have read that the maximum value for the Maximum length property is 2048 characters for CHAR values. Is it also the limit for LONG values ?

If this case is desperate, I would like to inform our users as soon as possible.
