Greetings,

Without knowing exactly your configuration [versions (client/server), platforms, etc.)], I do know that our org has experienced this same "feature". We're using Sun workstations [client side] against a Sun server. We're running against Sun OS [not the Solaris OS] because of some legacy applications.

Our information from Oracle is that it is an acknowledged problem with the 4.5 against the Sun OS. They do not seem to be interested in supplying a fix for it however. They suggested that it would go away with an upgrade to Solaris.

We have developed a set of work-arounds because of the error and we are learning to do more as we go. One sympton we have noticed is that the system is almost guaranteed to give the error when you attempt to copy (or drag-and-drop) a component from one form to another. The error also seems to appear when inserting menus components into the menu editor.

It would appear that the error is somewhat display based because of the origin appears most often when making use of the cut-and-paste features.

So we save often and avoid some of the more likely problem origins.

IT SURE COULD BE IMPROVED TO HELP DEVELOPER PRODUCTIVITY. Anyway, that's been our experience.
