The Kennedy Krieger Institute, founded in 1937 as the Children's Rehabilitation Institute, is a comprehensive resource for children with disabilities. A non-profit Institute, which employs over 1000 people, it is on the leading edge in the treatment and research related to brain disorders in children. It also is closely affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, with respect to professional staff, facilities, clinical activities and collaborative research.

We are the Behavioral Neurogenetics and NeuroImaging Research Center. Established in 1986 our mission has been to increase scientific understanding of brain structure, function and development in children through the study of individuals with genetic or other neurobiological causes of developmental and neurobehavioral disability and normals. Quantitative neuroimaging of MRI scans has been one of the tools utilized to attain this goal, other tools include genetics and behavioral analysis.

Currently, we are seeking to fill the following position:

Position Title: Database Programmer

Position Summary:	We seek a database programmer to code design, implement
					and maintain a number of relational research databases.
					Additional responsibilities will include design, 
					implementation, and maintenance of client front ends to
					the database on both Macintosh and Windows OS¹s. 
					Development of ODBC routines for interfacing in-house 
					image processing software with above relational 
					databases will also be required.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours: Full-time
Position begins: June 1, 1996
Requirements:
  • BSCS, MSCS, MIS, or related degree / experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) routines Relation Database Design, Implementation and Management Database Client Development Interface design for querying, data entry and reports On Macintosh and PC OS¹s Object Oriented concepts and programming BASIC (Oracle or Visual) for writing server procedures and triggers
  • The ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Knowledge or experience with C++ and/or Java Preferences:
  • Experience with Windows 95/NT and Mac OS¹s
  • Knowledge or experience with object oriented design
  • Knowledge or experience with WIN32, and Mac Toolbox
