Here's the set of data that you need (sorry that it didn't come in lined up very well. The two columns give the range of zipcodes belonging to each state. You'll notice that (because of US Military addresses) some states have two sets of ranges. I put this together a couple of years ago. You might want to verify it, but I would bet that it is still right on. (It also includes US Territories and protectorates) and canadian provinces)
