With version 7.2, Oracle data files can be a maximum of 4GB. This has increased to 14GB with version 7.3.

However, on most UNIX implementations the largest file size you can have is 2GB. Digital UNIX is the only flavor that I know of that will allow you to create files > 2GB. If your database is on raw devices, then this will not be a problem...

You should be ok because an Oracle tablespace can be made up of multiple data files. You could have a tablespace that consists of (10) 2GB data files.
