I guess I'd ask why you are proposing NT, rather than whether it is "there" yet. If there is something specific about NT that another OS (generally UNIX) doesn't/can't supply, then you will probably get support from the IS staff. If it's just because it might be NeaT to see it work, then you have some serious problems in your system selection methodology that will eventually affect your wallet.

I know zip about NT, other than it's another of Mr. Bill's wares, and I'm just generally against it on that principle alone. On the other hand, UNIX is about as stable as it comes, and provides reliable multiuser, multitasking, and multi processing. All the security features are there, and the issues of portability and scalability are unmatched by any other OS. If your customer is unlikely to grow significantly, these issues don't matter, of course.

If I had a customer who demanded NT, and I know that some do, then the decision is already made. I wouldn't steer them toward it on a whim, though.
