You have asked quite an open-ended questions. How large is large? :-)

Keep in mind that as is true with any large software package supported on multiple platforms, each ported version Oracle has its own unique set of quirks. The key is to do your homework before you decide: assess your needs/requirements, determine your criteria, evaluate the options and then make a decision.

I will let you know that we are NOT unhappy with our HP-UX Oracle development environment. IMHO, it is far superior to the other platforms I've worked with as a server platform (MS Windows NT and SCO/Unix). Our databases are typically 2-20 GB in size with up to 100 concurrent processes per instance.
