I tried the script too, but I couldn't get it to work. You ought to be able to make this work using srvany.exe from the NT Resource Kit, but I've never really put a lot of effort into that.

What *does* work is:
1. Enable automatic login, using the user that Oracle will be running under. I'd suggest that you make up a user that just runs Oracle.

2. Write a script (.CMD) to run Database Manager and start the database from a command line. (I can provide you with an example if you want it.) Stick the script in your startup group.

3. I'd also suggest that you enable a password-protected screensaver (one that doesn't burn too much CPU time, *not* one of the OpenGL savers) and set the start time of the screensaver to something low, like one or two minutes. That way, you will minimize the security issue of having an Oracle database running on a machine that any doofus can walk up to and futz with.
