   Two things you can look into.



    
  
  1.   Is the ORASRV process running on the SUN box.  To check it execute
       the following command on the SUN box : tcpctl stat.  This is at
       a O/S prompt not SQL.  If it is not execute: tcpclt start.  This 
       must be execute from the oracle account on the sun.

  
  2.   Check the SERVICES file on the NT box and make sure there is an
       entry for the orasrv process.  It should read: 
                  orasrv  1525/tcp
       If it is not insert it into the file.  There also needs to be an
       assignment in the oracle.ini file for tcp_services_file parameter.
       It should read:   TCP_SERVICES_FILE=location\SERVICES.






   Keep in mind this is for SQL*Net V1 not V2.  SQL*Net V2 has more to 
   configure than V1.
