...and I'm sure if you ran Fred's Database and Space Invaders Program (now available on shareware for $5 per CD, guaranteed virus-free (almost)!) on a Cray it would blow away Tandem's TPCC numbers. And I'm sure if you ran NonStop SQL on my TRS-80 (even even my Model T....er, I mean III!) even Tandem wouldn't have a problem beating the number. Of course TPCC numbers are listed by machine. It wouldn't make sense to list them any other way.

By the way, anyone know the install base of DEC Alphas running your favorite database server, vs. the install base of Tandems running NonStop SQL? (I'm not trying to be cutting here...I really have never heard of "NonStop SQL" before looking at the TPCC results.) And if you extrapolate out the tpmCs with the price/performance index....this is one EXPENSIVE combination. (NonStop can't be *that* main-stream...there isn't a Usenet newsgroup for it.)
