Oh, gee, that'll last until Oracle re-rests...and Sybase re-tests...and Informix re-tests...we all know this game.
Bottom line, while Sybase is a fine product, System 11 still locks most granularly at the page level, not the row level; bcp, even three times faster than System 10 (Sybase's claim, not mine - though it is noticeably faster) cannot compare to Oracle SQL*Loader for speed or flexibility; and real-world performance in a mixed tp/DSS environment has been equivalent for some time now. Replication under Oracle is so much easier the choice becomes moot. Sorry, Sybase is still architected to make efficient use of lean resources, not to scale up as resources become available.
