using SQL*Net with WWW application

Is anyone using SQL*Net in their WWW applications? We have a Oracle server running on a DEC Alpha and would like to serve it up via the Web from a Sparc running SunOS. Anyone have any experience?

Also I have seen some dialog concerning difficulties compiling Oraperl, what platforms are people running this successfully on? How about using Oraperl on the Sparc and querying the Alpha server via SQL*Net?

Any info would be appreciated.
