I am an Oracle DBA at a Navy installation that uses the IEF and associated tools for modelling and applications development. Though I am not directly working on the project, my experience with IEF is as follows:
- Can't put hints in the SQL therefore applications-level tuning is difficult
- DDL generated must be modified
- It is only certified up to Oracle 7.1.6. Their certification process lags behind Oracle Corporation by around a year.
Although it is my opinion only, I don't feel there is very tight integration between IEF and Oracle7. It appears that a lot of TI's internal emphasis has been on using DB2/2. However, things are changing....
I can put you in touch with a number of individuals that develop applications, or administer the database.
