Ladies and Gentlemen;
As a relative newcommer to the Net, I am still surprised at the venom that is passed around under the guise of opinion. To the person who said that PC folks are "weenies" I say that I believe most of us tend to be biased towards the hardware and software that we are most comfortable with and which has provided us with our livelihood. And while many of the comments this individual made had some sound reasoning, its too bad the message appeared to be designed to inflame rather than share a well thought out opinion. But I digress...
Oracle Corporation is putting alot of $$ and effort into OPO. Will that guarantee success, hardly. But, the real story is that OPO is not being positioned as a large-scale development or deployment platform. It is being targeted at the small to mid-sized business who can't afford, don't need, or don't want a full blown Oracle7 DB and the joys and headaches it brings along with the increase in IS staff required to feed and care for it. With that in mind, I think Oracle sees OPO in the market they have never successfully competed in, and while it will never be a large revenue stream, it does enhance Oracle's position as an industry leader. In other words, never let a cash cow go unmilked (or milked by the other guys). In my humble opinion...
