Hi Jonathan !

It may be due to some oracle orphan processes that are still running. In that case the 'Shutdown' command will wait until all the processes that are connected to oracle is stopped.

Edit your dbshut to have 'shutdown immediate' instead of 'shutdown' Or Kill all the oracle-orphans explicitly.
