if you hav a transaction like system where multiple users will access the same tables at the same time, you dont want to use sybase as they have no row level locking.
if you need growth without interruption, oracle is faster and more extensible.
if you want more integrated tools, especially the newest in object tech. oracle power objects is the best.
in short, unless you are a unix hacker, and want to be doing a lot of workarounds choose sybase.
if your a business that wants the lesat hassle, and the easiest devel environ, choose oracle. the extra money is well worth it.
