Here, we've been using, as client workstations: 486 DX2 66 MHz, 16 MB of RAM, 540 MB local hard disk, video and IDE VESA controllers.
The WINDOWS system should be configured with a large swap file (32MB), and each local disk must have roughly 50 MB minimum of free space, for temporary files. There must be a TEMP environment variable, pointing to a valid directory on each local disk.
Both WINDOWS and DOS should load a minimum of drivers, so that you can free as much low memory (memory below the 640K line) as possible. WINDOWS needs this to do its job. I recommend that you should NOT use SMARTDRV or other large residents for this reason.
