SQL*Net v2.1

I just upgraded my server and some clients to SQL*Net v2.1. During testing, I noticed that connecting using SQL*Net v2.1 takes betweek 40 to 60 percent LONGER to connect than with v1.1.

I've tried a few no-brainers to fix it including entering the IP Address instead of the hostnames in the LISTENER.ORA and TNSNAMES.ORA files on both the server and client files. In the hopes that the problem might be a DNS lookup problem. That doesn't seem to be the case.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips. I can't see switching all of my users to 2.1 and have a supposed "upgrade" actually slow down connection speed. Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks,
