Topic: IBM Host Connectivity utilizing NetWare & Oracle products.

Question:

Has anyone ever successfully accomplished the following:

Install an SDLC Interface Card into a file server running an Oracle database. The server (SDLC Interface Card) "directly" connects with an IBM Mainframe via an LU6 connection. The server holding the Oracle database in order to communicate (service) the SDLC Card will have to be running NetWare for SAA.

The question I have is.......Can an Oracle database successfully reside on the same server that is running NetWare for SAA?

If the answer is no then what are my options if any?

The exact hardware/software configuration I have is as follows:

Mainframe specs:
IBM Model 3090-400J Operating System - MVS Additional supporting software installed on mainframe is as follows:

  • Oracle SQL*Net V2.1 for IBM 370 390/MVS
  • Oracle LU6.2 Protocol Adapter V2.1 for IBM 370 390/MVS

Server specs:
Compaq Proliant 4500 5/100 Model 4200a, 64MB RAM, 2 GB HD

Supporting Software:	Novell NetWare V3.12
			Oracle Workgroup Server V7.1
			Oracle MultiProtocol Interchange V2.1 w/LU6.2
			Oracle MultiProtocol Interchange V2.1 w/ SPX/IPX
			Oracle Workgroup Server Client V7.1

SDLC Card specs:
Attachmate Advanced Function SDLC Adapter Part No. 104300
