Looks to me like an immediate shutdown is in progress. When you say that the server crashed, do you mean at the operating system level or just the database? My assumption is that there is a shutdown immediate issued as part of the backup process (that's how we do it). But because there were still some active connections to the database, the shutdown cannot complete. If you could find those connections and terminate them, then your database will shutdown and you should be able to start it again (assuming that you have the right priviledges)
