Whenever you copy a database in it's entirety to a new location, in addition to changing your pointer to ORACLE/HOME, you need to start the database in an unmounted mode the first time in the new location and tell it to rebuild the control files from the data files.  

This applies for database copies within the same machine as well as to different machines.
