I think that under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs there may be an SGA definition file. It must be deleted otherwise Oracle thinks it has an instance running.

I had a similar problem, but it was a long time ago. I think we deleted this SGA definition file and were able to restart. I can't be sure. Received on Wed Sep 06 1995 - 00:00:00 CEST
