howdy.

we've devloped applications with case 5.0 and 5.1, and are using designed/2000 right now. i like it (there are a few "quirks", but what the hey...)

anyway, you can let case generate a lot of the code for the way your forms work. like master-detail-detail relations, setting up record groups, etc. and then you KNOW that code is OK and doesn't need the same level of Q/A as a totally handwritten form does..

what we're doing is spending a LOT more time in the case tool - and we've had to train the forms developers in generation as well. we make many,many passes at the generation, aiming for the *functionality* we want. you can even write code for buttons, etc. then once the "guts" of the form is done, we spent maybe 5% of the working time back in the forms developer to "pretty up" to form. it isn't worth the effort to place columns and get their alignment in the case tool <--- that is FAR easier from the forms designer....

if you go the case route, send a few people on training. then spend some time "playing" learn about templates and preferences. and the experiment to see what you can make the case generators do...
