Export may be unsuitable for you, if you specify FULL=Y. This will attempt to export the entire database into one file. A better approach (and quicker) would be to run several exports in parallel, each exporting one or more tables. Not only will this possibly make your exports fit into several sub-2GB files, but it will be quicker, since it will be performed by several parallel processes.

If this wil work for you, try to export each file to a different physical drive, to avoid disk contention.

Also, when you say "39 hours to archive", do you mean archiving to tape? If so, then I would recommend getting several tape drives to archive in parallel. With just three additional tape drives, you might be able to reduce your time to about 10 hours!
