I'm running a database server on an HP-9000 715/75 running HP-UX 9.0.3, RDBMS 6.0.37.0.2 SQL*Net, with orasrv 1.2.7.6.1.

On another HP, I'm running a real-time graphics package that supports connections to an Oracle database, I simply enter the TCP/IP connection string in the Oracle configuration.

I start orasrv with:

	$ tcpctl start
	tcpctl: log file is /oracle/tcp/log/orasrv.log
tcpctl: server will be run under oracle
	tcpctl: logging mode is on

	orasrv: Version 1.2.7.6.1 - Production on Tue Aug 8 10:08:30 1995

Copyright (c) Oracle Corporation 1979, 1992. All rights reserved.

	Starting server on port 1525.
	tcpctl: server has been started

When the realtime package try's to connect,.. I get the following messages in the orasrv.log file.

orasrv[ 1817]: DEBUG: waiting for connection request...
orasrv[ 1817]: DEBUG: Connection from host real
orasrv[ 1817]: CONNECT request from real
orasrv[ 1845]: ERROR while processing request from host real
orasrv[ 1845]: ERROR: Cannot exec '/oracle/bin/oracle'
orasrv[ 1817]: DEBUG: waiting for connection request...

the protections on oracle are:

-rwsr-x--x 1 oracle dba 2957312 Jun 3 1993 oracle

An interesting note. This problem did not exist when the two HP's were on their own 2 machine network. Between then and now, they have been placed on our company's network.

Why did going to a large network kill me... I changed nothing. I am stumped,.. any help is greatly appreciated
