SQLNet v1 and v2 - can they coexist on the same server?

I've got a 7.1.3 server running under Solaris 2.4. I've got the SQL*Net V2 stuff working just fine, but I'm having a difficult time getting SQL*Net V1 to work (this is required, since the PowerObject DR2 release for the Mac only supports
V1).

I have created and entry for orasrv in /etc/services and started orasrv, both manually and with tcpctl (and the log file indicates no errors, and says that orasrv is accepting connections, but "tcpctl stat _at_hotname" just hangs). NetTest on the Mac will hang with "Attempting Connection" or report a variety of errors, including handshake troubles. Trying to "connect scott/tiger_at_T:hostname:sid" from within sqldba also hangs or gives an "ORA-06108: NETTCP: connect to host failed" or a "ORA-06136: NETTCP: error during connection handshake".

What have I missed. Did I install the V1 software incorrectly? Or have I misconfigured something?

Are V1 Connect strings required in the tnsnames.ora file? I have one in there, but I'd appreciate it if someone could show me their tnsnames.ora file so I can compare.

Should I start "orasrv" and "lsnrctl start" in any particular order?

I hope someone can help....
