I have this problem too on a sporadic basis, BUT I am using 7.1.3 on Sun OS 4.1.3. It occurs at a DB shutdown. Oracle supprort acknowledged it was a known 'bug' of 7.1.3, but was 'fixed' in 7.1.4. Hmmmm. The suggested workaround from Oracle was to use a Shutdown Abort, then start the DB, then shutdown in an orderly manner. Not a great solution. I am planning on migrating to 7.16 on Solaris 2.4, but there are concerns there as well.
