I have recently done exactly the same. It seems to link quite happily with the dynamic libraries. The Motif clients work, except that:

(1) There is a bug in the Server Manager which causes a core dump when

    some user-related operations are performed - we were advised to     upgrade to whatever the latest version of Oracle is (I can't     remember offhand and haven't received it yet...)

(2) The Motif clients do not display properly on our PC

    X-servers. Oracle were unable to help, but someone has suggested     that linking with the static library from the IXI Motif Developers     pack sorted that out for them. But if you don't use Hummingbird     eXceed, there's no here problem for you.
