upgrade by overwriting

Help - I recently upgraded (by overwriting) an ORACLE version 6.0.33 to version 6.0.37 on VMS. The instance starts ok but when I try to open the database I get the following error:

ORA-01571 log records version 6003003 incompatible with ORACLE version 6003706.

I cannot drop the old redo logs because one is active. Is there anything I can do, besides restoring the backup and starting over?????
