Hi,
i)
I am running Oracle version 7.0.16 on SCO Unix Release 3 version 4.2. I was reading the Installation manual and I saw that there is a post wait latch driver that optimises the DB.
I duly enabled the driver as explained in the manual. I tried following the steps outlined in the manual, but every time I run the DB, I get:
ORA-00445:background process 'PMON' didn't start after 11s. ORA-07269:spdcr:detailed process died after exec. What is going on???
I tried examining the trace file,
in pmon-465.trc:
error 7287 detected in background process OPIRIP:Uncaught error 447.
Error stack:ORA-00447:fatal error in background process

ORA-07287:soagdi : unsupported device for log archiving.

I've tried turning off archiving and restarting the db, but it does not work . On a related issue, can anyone also tell me how to set the async kdriver variableto work??? Do I set USE_AIO=Yes or what, as the manual does not specify how to do it????

THanks to all in advance!!!!
