:Why? At least with O7.1.4 for SCO comes Oracle Book 2.0 runtime (in :subdirectory $ORACLE_HOME/orainst/ob2 - nothing prevents you from :using b20runm instead of b10runm (in orainst directory).
I can't explain why Oracle includes the version of the Oracle Book runtime it does on the CDs, and since I'm running a UNIX version of Oracle I doubt I get the b20runm file.
I cornered a couple of Oracle managers at CODA last week and asked if there were any enhancements for Oracle Book coming for folks using the documentation or support CD-ROMs, since they are a very poor substitute for printed books. (And it's worth noting that although this move will save Oracle a bundle of money on future releases of Oracle, my support fees went UP noticeably this year, even after I factor out the difference between the old support classes and the metal ones.)
I didn't exactly get an answer, but I did make them THINK about it. I doubt that the folks who set that policy have ever read or attempted to read documentation on CD-ROM format.
However, that's not to the point of the original question, which dealt with the feasibility of using Oracle Book and a CD-ROM.
