SQL*net does use MacTCP. You must configure SQL*net to go through TCP/IP and that ususally associates using a connection string such as T:Poly:pu01 where T stands for TCP/IP and Poly is the host. Setting this up differs slightly under SQL*net v1 & v2

I believe you have to use PRO-C or some other product which supports SQL*net to invoke SQL*net from within THINK or CODEWARRIOR.

Some other client/server products allow you to use SQL*net to connect to the host. My company's product, macControl, allows you to connect with either DAL or SQL*net. For more info on macControl, see our Web sit listed below or call/email & I will send documentation, tutorials & sample apps.

DAL is a very nice product which allows you to connect to a wide range of hosts. Our experiences have shown that you gain some performance by using SQL*net due to the way that DAL handles data types. SQL*net is designed specifically to work with Oracle, DAL is designed to work with a host of products.

I believe this all to be accurate & I hope this helps some. I mostly build apps & design tables & don't have to bother with some of the technical aspects of the middleware.
