I'm currently using Access to write an analysis Front-End (i.e. Report writing and running tool) for an Oracle database. So far it's working quite well. I'm simply attaching to the Oracle tables using ODBC and creating Access forms and reports. It was pretty simple, once you get all the communication pieces in place.
Our company is looking at using Access and/or VB to re-write the front-ends to all our Oracle applications.
One concern may be security. You may want to store the oracle user account and password locally, so users don't have to enter it. But then you should try to make the front-end secure (and use a run-time access version) so that users can't get at the connect information. Received on Wed Feb 22 1995 - 16:47:43 CET
