We have an alpha pager gateway built into our mail system (the company is Star Nine, I believe); whenever a page is needed, the text is sent to the special mail account and thereby relayed to the pager gateway. This way, the computer can "mail" the error or necessary message, or a user can "mail" the message. Simple, clean, and useful.
