Barbara,
Anything is cooler than SQL*DBA as you have discovered.
Netware tools:
Try 'Phantom of the Console' for scheduling, we use a lot.
Try 'Bradmark: SQLWATCH' for monitoring a cool product.
Check out 'SQL Studio' as a good all round tool.
