$500K eh? Well, somebody forgot to tell most of us Oracle customers about that. I'm running Oracle 7.1.3 on a $6k sun clone + $4K for more memory and a couple of 1Gb drives (I've got a total of 96Mb memory and 3Gb disk space) and a 4mm dat.

Actually, your hardware requirements are going to be a function of the type of work you exect to perform with the database and not a function of the database system. The net result is that if you need $500k in hardware for an Oracle system, you'll probably need that much for any system you implement.

btw, What did they say that $500K was for?
