What about the situation where you have multiple RAID5s? I realize that this is a totally different case. It seems to me that you would treat each one similarly to how you would treat a single disk.? This seems to me go give you lots of improvements over just disks.

Would it still be prudent to pay a LOT of attention to table contention, or does this problem get reduced due to the RAID5 data striping enough to where it's not much of a problem?
