Youri,

Yes it is possible to install CASE products on your machine without much effort. It is after the installation that you will have to set the CASE specific environment variables. I will be speaking to you based on my experience loading CASE tools on a SUN machine running SUN OS 4.x.x as well as a DEC Alpha running OSF/1. I believe most of the information I am giving you will port to SCO UNIX.

Most of the following information comes out of the "Oracle Tools for UNIX Administrator's Reference Guide" Release 6.0 and 7.1.

Before running the installer make sure the following minimum parameters are specified in the init.ora file:

	db_files 25
	dml_locks 600
	enqueue_resources	800
	open_cursors 200
	row_cache_cursors	400

After the values have been set bounce the database with a
'Startup force' from SQL*DBA or in your case with 7.1.3 use the Server Manager tool. If you are installing CASE 5.0, SQL*FORMS 3.0 and SQL*MENU  will be installed since the CASE tool uses these. In other words if you have the RDBMS installed the installer will install everything required just by selecting the three CASE tools.

CASE Designer is an X-windows based product. After the installation you will have to convert the BDF font files to SNF files. The instruction are in the installation and configuration guide.

If you need help send mail to sheppard_at_SCCa01.Sidlinger.com and I will return mail or give you a call.
